Visiting Gloucester

Gloucester is one of America’s oldest fishing ports. Founded in 1623, the city has a rich history. Thousands come to visit the city each year, to take in the beaches, such as Good Harbor & Wingaersheek, among others; the art galleries, including the Rocky Neck art colony; historic buildings, such as Hammond Castle, Town Hall, and Our Lady of Good Voyage church; and scenic views, including the Dog Bar Breakwater, the Eastern Point lighthouse, and the world-famous Man at the Wheel statue. Others come for the fishing, whale watch tours, or festivals, such as the Gloucester Schooner Festival and St. Peter’s Fiesta (home of the greasy pole competition and seine boat races).

There’s so much to do in Gloucester, Cape Ann (the area combining Gloucester and Rockport), and the towns nearby, such as Essex, Ipswich, and Salem. We hope you visit again or for the first time and make Connemara Bay Charters one of your destinations.
